Location

Why Visit

  • 1

The world's only commercially operated monorail to a cape descends to the tip

  • 2

Oita's Saganoseki peninsula is clearly visible 13km across the strait

  • 3

Nuclear plant Ikata sits on the same cape — a uniquely Japanese juxtaposition

Local Tips

The cape is the westernmost point of Shikoku. The clifftop path to the lighthouse offers strong views of the Seto Inland Sea and Kyushu on clear days. Sunset is ideal; the lighthouse can be viewed from outside only.
