Local Tips

One of Japan's largest private farms — the Koiwai Holstein dairy is famous across Japan for its milk and soft-serve ice cream. Spring brings cherry blossoms across the pastureland with the Iwate mountains behind — a genuinely beautiful scene. The farm is 15 minutes by bus from Shizukuishi Station on the Tazawako Line. Combine with Hachimantai Plateau.
