Kujukuri Beach

A 66km straight sandy beach — Japan's second longest — facing the Pacific Ocean on the Boso Peninsula's eastern coast. The consistent surfable waves, the wide open beach with no buildings on the ocean side, and the inoshishi (wild boar) that occasionally wander down from the coastal forest make this a wild Pacific experience.

Why Visit

  • 1

Japan's second-longest beach at 66km — wide, largely undeveloped, facing open Pacific

  • 2

Consistent beach-break surf year-round — Ichinomiya area is the most famous surfing spot

  • 3

The beach is largely undeveloped — dune grass and pine forest rather than hotels and shops

Local Tips

This 66 km beach is one of Japan's longest. The southern end near Kujukuri village is quietest; the northern section near Choshi is popular with surfers year-round. Visit in early morning for fog and solitude — the off-season (Sept–May) is spectacular for long empty walks.
