Local Tips
Tsurugi ('sword') is Shikoku's second highest peak and a genuine pilgrimage mountain. The ropeway reaches 1,750m; the 20-minute walk to the 1,955m summit is steep. The Tsurugi Jinja shrine at the summit is one of Japan's five great mountain shrines. Clear days reveal the Pacific, Seto Inland Sea, and neighbouring peaks simultaneously.
