Local Tips

A rare wooden castle reconstruction built in 2004 using 100% traditional techniques and materials — no concrete or modern materials used anywhere. The interior carpentry and joinery are extraordinary. The view of the Hiji River gorge below and the historic machiya town from the keep is outstanding. Combine with the river raft and Ozu town walking tour.
