Local Tips
The small castle keep (Shiroishi-jo) is one of the most charming in Tohoku — an intimate, completely original-style reconstruction. The Shiroishi Umen (cold noodles) are the local dish, eaten at restaurants around the castle. The castle grounds are well-maintained and often empty. Combine with Zao Onsen (40 min by car) for a full Miyagi mountain day.
