Local Tips

Japan's second-largest island in the Seto Inland Sea — olive cultivation (Japanisland's main producer), soy sauce brewing (Yamasa and Marukin), and Angel Road (a sandbar that appears at low tide) define the island. The Setouchi Art Festival installations are scattered across the island. Rent a scooter for the full island circuit (75km). The Kankakei Ropeway in autumn foliage is outstanding.
