Local Tips
Suizenji reproduces all 53 stages of the Tokaido Highway in miniature garden form — each mound and pond represents a different post town, with a miniature Mt Fuji as the centrepiece. The tea house (Izumi Shrine attached) serves tea with a view of the miniature Mt Fuji. Built by the Hosokawa lords; their association with tea ceremony gives the garden a refined cultural depth.
