Local Tips

The 80m Manai waterfall dropping into the emerald gorge is most dramatic in the morning when mist still hangs in the valley. Boats sell out by midday on weekends and holidays — arrive at 8am opening or book through accommodation. The 1km gorge walk is paved and accessible. Combine with Takachiho Shrine night kagura (20:00, year-round) for a full Takachiho day.
