Local Tips

The peninsula curves into the Sea of Japan creating a bow-shaped white sand beach. The water is calm on the bay side but rough on the outer coast — swim on the bay side only. Sakaiminato at the peninsula tip is famous for Shigeru Mizuki (GeGeGe no Kitaro) manga statues.
