Local Tips

About 50,000 azalea bushes (including 31,400 Hirado azaleas) covering a hillside in the castle park — almost entirely unknown outside of Fukui. The variety of colours (white, pink, red, purple) at full bloom is extraordinary. Combine with Maruoka Castle (20 min by car) and Eiheiji Temple for a full Fukui day.
